Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Sanad Care is a professional home nursing service based in Marrakech, Morocco. We send state-registered nurses directly to your home, hotel, or riad to deliver medical care including injections, IV therapy, wound care, post-surgical follow-up, elderly care, chronic disease management, and more. We serve residents, expats, families, and tourists.
Anyone who needs medical nursing care at home. This includes patients recovering from surgery, elderly individuals needing daily support, people with chronic illnesses (diabetes, hypertension, etc.), tourists who fall ill in Marrakech, families seeking professional caregiving for a loved one, and doctors who need reliable nursing follow-up for their patients.
For certain medical acts such as injections, IV infusions, or medication administration, a doctor's prescription (ordonnance) is required by Moroccan law. For general care such as hygiene assistance, companionship, mobility support, or vital sign monitoring, no prescription is needed. If you don't have a prescription, we can help coordinate with a doctor.
We cover all of Marrakech including Gueliz, Hivernage, Medina, Palmeraie, Targa, Agdal, Amelkis, Route de l'Ourika, Route de Fès, Route d'Amizmiz, and surrounding areas. For locations outside greater Marrakech, please contact us to confirm availability and any additional travel fees.
Our nurses speak Arabic, French, and many also speak English. We ensure clear communication with every patient regardless of their language preference. For tourists, we always try to assign nurses with strong English or French skills.
Yes. We offer services around the clock, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Night shifts and overnight nursing are available for patients who require continuous monitoring or post-operative care during nighttime hours.

For urgent requests, we can often dispatch a nurse within 1–3 hours depending on availability and your location in Marrakech. For planned care, we recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance to ensure the best nurse match for your needs.
Yes. We offer single-visit bookings for one-time needs like an injection, a wound dressing change, or a health check. There is no obligation to commit to a long-term plan.
Absolutely. Many of our clients — especially families with elderly parents or patients with chronic conditions — book recurring visits on a daily, several-times-a-week, or weekly basis. We create a consistent schedule and try to assign the same nurse for continuity of care.
Yes. If you've had a positive experience with a particular nurse, you can request them for future visits. We do our best to accommodate preferences, as continuity is important for trust and quality care.
We understand plans change. We ask for at least 6 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee. Contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to accommodate changes.

Pricing & Payment

Pricing depends on the type of service, duration, frequency, and time of day. A single injection visit is priced differently from an 8-hour elderly care shift or overnight post-surgical monitoring. Contact us with your specific needs and we will provide a clear, upfront quote with no hidden fees.
Night shifts (after 8 PM), weekend visits, and public holiday visits may carry a modest surcharge to reflect the unsociable hours. We always inform you of any surcharge before confirming the booking.
We accept cash, bank transfer, and mobile payment options. Payment is typically due at the time of service for single visits, or on an agreed schedule for ongoing care plans. We provide receipts for all transactions.
Some private insurance plans and mutual health funds in Morocco may partially cover home nursing services when prescribed by a doctor. We provide detailed invoices and care reports that you can submit to your insurer. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for your specific coverage terms.
Yes. For ongoing daily or weekly care — such as elderly companionship, chronic disease management, or extended post-surgical recovery — we offer care packages at reduced rates. Contact us to discuss a plan tailored to your needs and budget.

Our Nurses & Qualifications

Yes. Every nurse on the Sanad Care team is a state-registered nurse (infirmier diplômé d'État) authorized to practice in Morocco. We verify diplomas, registration status, and professional references before any nurse joins our team.
Beyond their formal nursing education, our nurses receive additional training in home care protocols, infection control, patient communication, elder care best practices, emergency response, and palliative care. We conduct ongoing evaluations and skills updates.
Yes. We match nurses to patients based on experience. We have nurses with extensive backgrounds in post-operative care, oncology support, diabetes management, Alzheimer's and dementia care, cardiac monitoring, respiratory care, and pediatric nursing.
We prioritize continuity and try to assign the same nurse for ongoing care. However, due to scheduling, days off, or illness, a substitute may occasionally be needed. In that case, the replacement nurse will be fully briefed on the patient's care plan and history.
We maintain quality through careful nurse selection, structured care protocols, regular supervision, patient feedback collection, and detailed care reports after each visit. If you are ever unsatisfied, we address concerns immediately and can reassign nurses if needed.

Elderly & Chronic Care

We provide comprehensive elderly home care including daily hygiene assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), medication reminders and administration, vital signs monitoring, mobility support and fall prevention, bedsore prevention, meal preparation reminders, companionship to reduce isolation, cognitive stimulation activities, and coordination with the patient's physician.
Yes. We have nurses experienced in caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. They are trained in managing wandering risks, communication techniques for confused patients, maintaining routines, redirecting agitation, and providing a calm and safe environment.

Yes. We actively communicate with your surgeon or treating doctor. After each visit, we provide a detailed care report. If we observe anything concerning — unusual swelling, signs of infection, abnormal vitals — we contact the doctor immediately and follow their instructions.
Ideally, home nursing should begin the day you are discharged from the hospital. Many surgeons in Marrakech recommend arranging home nursing before the procedure so that care is seamless from hospital to home. Contact us before your surgery and we will have everything ready.
Yes. Marrakech is a popular destination for cosmetic and medical tourism. We provide post-operative nursing care for patients who have had rhinoplasty, facelifts, liposuction, breast surgery, dental procedures, and other cosmetic treatments. Our nurses ensure proper wound care, compression garment management, medication compliance, and recovery monitoring at your hotel or riad.

If you are traveling to Marrakech for a medical procedure — cosmetic surgery, dental work, orthopedic surgery, fertility treatments, or other interventions — we provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care at your accommodation. We coordinate with your clinic and surgeon for seamless continuity.

For Doctors & Partners

Doctors can refer patients who need home nursing follow-up after a consultation, procedure, or hospital discharge. We execute your prescribed care plan, administer treatments, monitor the patient, and send you structured reports. This extends your practice without burdening your schedule.
Always. Our nurses work under the medical directives of the treating physician. We administer only what is prescribed, follow specified protocols, and never modify a care plan without the doctor's approval. Your authority over your patient's treatment is fully respected.
After each visit, we prepare a care report that includes vitals recorded, treatments administered, wound status, patient observations, and any concerns. This report can be sent via email, WhatsApp, or through a secure channel of your preference. For urgent findings, we call immediately.
In most cases, yes, provided the treatment falls within the scope of nursing practice in Morocco and is supported by valid documentation. For international patients, we recommend having the foreign prescription validated or reissued by a local Moroccan physician to ensure full legal compliance.
Yes. We work with clinics, hospitals, and day-surgery centers in Marrakech to receive patients upon discharge. We can begin care the same day, ensuring no gap in monitoring, wound care, or medication administration. Clinics can contact us directly to set up a referral channel.

For Family Members

This is one of the most common situations we handle. We set up a care plan for your parent, assign a trusted nurse, begin visits according to your agreed schedule, and send you regular updates — including written reports and, if desired, photos or video calls — so you always know how your loved one is doing.
Yes. Transparency is central to our service. After each visit, you receive a care summary detailing vitals, treatments performed, the patient's mood and condition, any concerns, and recommendations. You can choose to receive updates via WhatsApp, email, or phone calls.
Absolutely. Care needs evolve. You can increase or decrease visit frequency, add new services, change schedules, or request a different nurse at any time. We adapt the care plan as your family member's condition changes.
This is very common, especially with elderly patients who value their independence. Our nurses are trained to be gentle, patient, and respectful. We start gradually, build trust through companionship, and let the patient feel in control. Most patients become comfortable and even look forward to their nurse's visits.
Every Sanad Care nurse is vetted through diploma verification, reference checks, and a personal interview. We assign nurses based on compatibility with the patient. You have full visibility through care reports and can contact us anytime with questions or concerns. Your family's safety is our absolute priority.
Yes. We regularly communicate with the patient's treating physicians in Marrakech. We share reports, flag any health changes, accompany patients to appointments if needed, and ensure prescriptions are followed correctly. You don't have to manage this from afar — we handle it.

Safety & Emergencies

Our nurses are trained in basic emergency response. If a life-threatening emergency occurs, the nurse will stabilize the patient to the extent possible, call emergency services (SAMU - 141), and immediately notify the family and treating doctor. We do not replace emergency medical services, but we ensure the patient is never alone in a crisis.
Yes. All our nurses have training in first aid, CPR, and basic life support. They can manage acute situations such as fainting, hypoglycemic episodes, falls, choking, or allergic reactions while emergency services are en route.
Yes. Our nurses arrive equipped with essential supplies including gloves, sterile dressings, antiseptics, syringes, a blood pressure monitor, a glucometer, a thermometer, and other tools relevant to the scheduled care. For specific medications or supplies prescribed to the patient, we will advise you on what to have available at home.
We follow strict hygiene and infection control protocols including hand sanitization, use of disposable gloves and masks, sterile technique for wound care and injections, proper disposal of medical waste (sharps containers, biohazard bags), and disinfection of equipment. Patient safety from infection is non-negotiable.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Absolutely. All patient information — medical history, treatment details, personal data — is treated with strict confidentiality. Our nurses follow professional secrecy obligations (secret médical) as required by Moroccan law and nursing ethics. Information is shared only with the patient, their authorized family contacts, and their treating physician.
Care reports are shared only with the patient (or their legal guardian), the designated family contact, and the referring/treating doctor — unless you explicitly authorize additional recipients. We do not share your information with any third party without your consent.
Yes. If you are the patient and you have specific privacy preferences — for example, certain details you do not want shared with family members — we will respect your wishes entirely. Patient autonomy and consent govern all our communications.

Coverage & Service Areas

Currently, our primary service area is Marrakech and its surrounding region. This includes all neighborhoods within the city as well as areas along major routes (Route de l'Ourika, Route de Fès, Route d'Amizmiz, Palmeraie, etc.). We are exploring expansion to other Moroccan cities — contact us for updates.
Yes. We serve villas, farms, and residences on the outskirts of Marrakech. For locations significantly outside the urban area, a small travel surcharge may apply, which we communicate upfront before confirming your booking.
Yes. We are very familiar with navigating the Medina and regularly visit patients in riads and hotels within the old city. We coordinate arrival logistics so the nurse reaches you efficiently, even in areas inaccessible by car.
